Each DANCE NOW Community Gathering is unique to the artist hosting and the participants who share their thoughts and experiences. Artists provide a frame work and starting point for the discussion, often sharing snippets of work in progress, or techniques they use in their lives and creative processes. Participants each get a chance to respond and share, creating a thoughtful, in-depth discussion.

To make sure that everyone present can participate, registration for each Community Gathering is  extremely limited.

All Community Gatherings are part of DANCE NOW's IDEA efforts and is FREE to encourage accessibility for all audiences. 

Claire Porter, known for her comedic text/movement work and skilled teaching, has received many commissions, most recently from the Bill Evans Dance Company, Fullerton College in CA and Hofstra University; and honors including those from The Guggenheim Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, New Jersey State Council on the Arts, NewMusicUSA, Rockefeller Foundation and The Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation. Porter has an MA in Dance from Ohio State, a BA in Mathematics and is a certified Laban Movement Analyst. In addition to performing, touring and choreographing with Claire Porter/PORTABLES, Porter teaches at Montclair State University, Fairleigh Dickinson University and conducts Dizzy Dance Workouts in Tenafly, NJ.

Claire will be sharing insight and tricks on how to get past artistic road blocks and dive into new developmental territory, discovering ingenious sparks for new creations in any discipline.

During the event you'll have the chance to collaborate with other participants, later viewing and sharing the creations.

Spots are extremely limited for each event so please register early!
